New Art

More on the horizon

Last year at this time, I started my newest painting and mixed media series, New Horizons. They are more abstract in nature, and a fun departure from my usual representational art. I am back at it again, playing with paint and collage and texture and script. Here are my newest additions to my series.

lavolaille1

La Volaille – 5 x 7 inch mixed media on cradled wood panel

And here are all three together. For more information on the triptych, please see the listing in my Etsy shop, ArtcyLucy Studio.

InTheMoonlight1

In the Moonlight – 8 x 8 inch mixed media painting on Ampersand gessobord

WithMyTears1

With My Tears – 6 x 6 inch mixed media on Ampersand gessobord

TheRainMustFall

The Rain Must Fall – 5 x 7 inch mixed media painting on Ampersand gessobord

I am completely in love with these abstracts, and really love the process of making them. I love being able to use the colors I am interested in at the moment, and scratching into the wet paint, sgraffito style. I love adding “script” with my own hand, and using some of my precious stash of collage papers makes me happy. I hope you love them too. For more information and photos of this series of paintings, please see the New Horizons category in my Etsy shop. There are now twenty six paintings in this series that are available.

It is interesting to end the year with the same joy as I ended last year, exploring the world of abstract art in my own way.  I haven’t forgotten about portraits or still life, so more to show you before the year ends. And more contemplating about where I want my art journey to go for 2016. I’ll be back soon!
