New Art

November Came and Went

Yes, a whole month has gone by, and I’ve missed posting on my blog! I do apologize, I had sciatic issues I had to deal with for a good portion of November. Sitting here at the desk, was not an option for me. I didn’t get to paint as much as I would like, but the paintings I did complete…I loved!

I created both of these elegant ladies for a very sweet collector of my paintings. She wanted something Marie Antoinette inspired. I loved doing the research for Rococo era art, and how can you not love those fluffy white hair pieces and feathers??? I don’t paint on wooden panels as often as I do the gessobord, but painting these, made me realize how much I love painting on the wood texture.

Baroness Bristol – 11 x 14 inch acrylic painting on mixed media art board

Another painting for a new customer, who loved one of my other paintings in my shop. This is a companion piece, made just for her…she provided ideas and color choices, and she let me go from there. I adore this painting! I love the deep dark tones, and who doesn’t love a very fashionable crimson colored bustle??? I really appreciate my customers who give me ideas, and then let me take on the creativity challenge! I learned so much with this portrait.

As much as I loved making these custom paintings, I think for the first half of 2016, I will take a break from custom paintings, so I can have some time to experiment with some new techniques I learned from the five online classes I took this year.

In November, I also had the opportunity to make a couple paintings as gifts…

50Years

50 Years – 9 x 12 inch acrylic painting on cradled wooden panel

For friends that have been married for 50 years, I couldn’t help but make a celebratory bouquet just for them. I used my favorite colors. You can’t really tell in this photo, but there is metallic gold shimmering in the table and a few of the flowers. I couldn’t help but add a little drama to the still life.

EllaAndFrame

Ella – 8 x 10 inch acrylic painting on gessobord

Created for my niece and her husband on their anniversary…she’s a lover of elephants. I couldn’t help but add a little “bling” to her, and to the frame. This is my first completed elephant painting! She was painted in a fun and loose style, that I am really enjoying. “Ella” now lives in her new home, and is much loved.

It makes me VERY happy to create art for customers, family and friends!

Aside from painting, I have been really enjoying pen and ink drawing again!

Each of them are printed on high quality paper with lasting inks, and I take very great care to make them look like the original drawings. You can take a look at all the prints available in my shop…more to be added soon!

Now that I am feeling better, I have been painting more (and drawing more). I’ll be back soon to share my new works with you. In the meantime, I hope November was a wonderful month for you and you are enjoying December!
