as sweet as a rose
If I had a rose for every time I thought of you, I’d be picking roses for a lifetime.” ~ Swedish Proverb
Rose – 11 x 14 inch mixed media painting on canvas
I started this painting months ago, and like a butterfly, she went through quite a metamorphosis to get to where she is right now. But I am happy to say that “Rose” is finally finished! She reminds me a bit of the Pre-Raphaelite faces, such as those of JW Waterhouse and maybe a little of Dante Rossetti’s art. I remember finding their art online for the first time, years ago…before even starting my own art journey…I fell in love with those faces, the costumes, and the romance of that time period. So, it isn’t hard to understand why I tend to paint faces like that…those melancholy expressions.
