Summer Sunflowers Remembered
I fall in love with them every year…the sunflowers in my yard! I plant them from seeds, every spring…and carefully water them, and watch their progress every day. Until finally, they are standing five feet tall…and have unfurled their petals, and face the sun! Every year, I am in awe of this flower…their colors, their beauty, the way they follow the sun, the way they sway in the breeze.
I photograph them every year, so even in the dead of winter, I can remember their beauty. This year, I tried something a little different. I took out my canvases and acrylic paints, my books on Vincent van Gogh were studied…and I tried to capture these beauties artistically. And not surprisingly, I fell in love with painting them! One is hanging in my living room, another is in a friend’s kitchen…and I am proud to say that five of these paintings are now available in my Etsy shop. Summer may be almost over…but these sunflowers will be around for years to come.
So, what’s in store for Autumn?
I’ll be exhibiting and selling my collage and assemblage art here, at the Book Arts Jam. So, I’ve been busy creating new things…all book related! I’ll have a sneak peek for you soon!
Hope your summer has been full of beautiful sunflowers and blue skies!
