Gardens and Art

In a garden wild
where soft earth and hope
thrive in the sunshine
where poetry lives
under every leaf and every petal
guiding us toward the quiet hours
where we can tune out
stories of old storms
and breathe deeply
of memories in the making
beneath the summer tree

A little poem from me to you today…why poetry?

Well, first of all, it was one of the first ways I could express myself as a young girl. And I have continued to follow that thread for most of my life. And as I was getting my five new pieces together this week to put in my online shop, I decided I wanted to string the titles together in a creative way. While I didn’t set out to make a mini series of paintings, I do think they all compliment each other, and I can’t wait to show you!

In A Garden Wild is a 10 x 10 inch acrylic painting on cradled wood panel. The sides are about 1.5 inches deep, and are painted black. Price is $130.00 plus shipping costs.

You can find it in my online art gallery and shop ArtcyLucyShop.com

Soft Earth and Hope is a 12 x 12 inch mixed media painting on cradled wood panel. So much yummy texture here, and I love the swirling of the expressive lines and paint colors. It’s $160.00 plus shipping.

Every gardener knows that soft earth makes for a lovely foundation for new seedlings, for new growth. We live in a place where we have a lot of hard clay, and we need to dig into and amend the soil to get it just right. And then…we hope. We put our little “babies”, new seedlings, in the ground and hope they survive wind, weather changes, snails and slugs, or being stomped on by not so observant delivery people (yes, there is that!). But when that garden starts to come awake in the spring, and these new seedlings thrive…there is nothing like it! My art life, like my little garden adventures, takes “tilling”, learning, exploration, amending, curiosity, work, and … hope.

Stories of Old Storms is a 12 x 12 inch acrylic painting on stretched canvas and the sides are painted black. This painting is varnished and ready for a new home. It is $160.00 plus shipping.

Recently, I have been thinking a lot about the storms we go through, and how they are part of our story, whether we want them to be or not. I think you will see the swirling turmoil here, as well as glimmers of change…and always hope.

The Memories We Make is an 11 x 14 inch acrylic painting on Raymar professional panel. This painting is a panel that is about 1/4 inch thick, and it will require a frame of your choice. This painting is also $160.00 plus shipping.

Another one inspired by the garden, and those pops of deep orange and reds, reminiscent of corn poppies and tulips. The yellows and citrus greens are showing up in my work too, and I love this nod to the colors of spring.

Where Poetry Lives is my smallest in this new set of paintings, at just 6 x 6 inches, at it’s acrylic on stretched canvas. The sides are painted black. This painting is $90.00 plus shipping.

It’s in these swirling emotions between the joys and the storms, where words come forth for poets…pulling from their experiences, dreams or expectations…or maybe just their curiosity. I am not really sure, but I do know that I love tossing words around, it’s another way to express myself. A fellow artist shared this quote with me, “Painting is silent poetry, Poetry is painting that speaks”. I love that!

I hope you will take a look at my online shop. I have taken my shop off Etsy for now, and made my own space again, to showcase my art.
