The Beauty of May
It is such a pleasure to be back to painting, after a month off! Battling a chest cold and low energy, was no fun. I did try to make it a daily practice to draw though, at least a little something to keep the art juices flowing. And I watched videos for an online class. But getting back in front of my easel was the goal.
Last week, I walked out of the art room after working on a set of portraits and said to my husband, “I’m baaacckkk!”
Sonora – a lovely Frida Kahlo inspired acrylic painting on 5 x 7 inch gessobord
Esperanza – 5 x 7 inch acrylic on gessobord…another fun play on Frida’s style. But this time, I played with the composition just a bit!
Maya – 5 x 7 inch acrylic on gessobord…she was a fun one to paint, a bit quirky, but oh so cute!
I returned to my “Dream” portrait series with these two.
Sweet Dreams – 5 x 7 inch acrylic on gessobord
Peaceful and polka dotty!
Hope and Dreams – 5 x 7 inch acrylic on gessobord. A bit of a different color palette for me, with the neutral gray background, but I love how her red hair just pops.
All five of these new portraits are available in my online art shop, ArtcyLucy Studio on Etsy.
I hope you are enjoying your last week of May! Where I live the weather is starting to heat up, which means, I will be in the air conditioned art studio even more. That’s how I beat the summer heat!
