The Faces of January

I can say that these three portraits took me two years to paint…I actually started them at the end of 2015, and finished them last week, in 2016.

I am enjoying this darker palette, and I love repurposing canvases. This portrait of Lola, was painted over a city scene, and you can see the remnants of the purple hues of the sky, around her face and hair.

Lola

Lola – 8 x 10 inch acrylic painting on stretched canvas  (Sold, thank you!)

She has quite an island feel to her, with dark raven hair, and the pops of pastel hues play really well with the green backdrop.

Dreama4.jpg

Dreama – 5 x 7 inch painting on stretched canvas

I love her steady gaze…and the creamy color of her skin. Subtle colors surround her…I used only my favorites!

skye4

Skye – 5 x 7 inch acrylic painting on gessobord (SOLD, thank you)

And then Skye just showed up, with no subtleness whatsoever… color rules this portrait!

I enjoyed painting all three of these… I am always in a happy place, when I see eyes staring back at me from my easel. There is just something so special about bringing faces to life with paint.

All three portraits are available in my online shop,

ArtcyLucy Studio on Etsy

There are more than just portraits in my online shop…there are abstracts, landscapes, and florals too!
