The Gardener’s Favorite
I’ve been wanting to paint sunflowers again, but there were a few online art classes that I was taking first, before I could delve into my annual sunflower ritual. I paint them usually this time of year, for a friend of mine, who loves them…and she has quite a few of my sunflower paintings.
This year, I used Monet’s Bouquet of Sunflowers painting, as my inspiration for the flow and composition of each of these paintings. Mine is a loose interpretation of the close up details of his painting.
Anniversary Sunflowers – 8 x 10 inch acrylic on art panel
Sunflowers in September – 8 x 10 inch acrylic on art panel
The Gardener’s Favorite – 5 x 7 inch acrylic on art panel
Look to the Sun – 5 x 7 inch acrylic on art panel
I painted these at the same time, so I love how their colors flow from one to the other. Three of these paintings are now available in my online art shop, ArtcyLucy Studio on Etsy.
I don’t think I am done yet with sunflowers!

I just looked at Monet’s sunflowers. I don’t think I have seen that painting before. My favorite of your paintings is the fourth one–I think because it is different than usual open sunflowers and the texture on it is so nice. Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers.
Thank you, Janet! I like the upturned sunflower too…it was fun to paint these!
Pretty 🙂
Thank you, Janet!
I don’t think you should be done painting flowers! These are very beautiful and happy flowers!:-)
Thanks, Valerie! Yes, you know me… never a dull painting moment. I go from faces to flowers to Minions 🙂
