Dreamy Portraits

Well, this has definitely been the year for portraits…

…and I am loving every single second of it! These three new portraits are certainly inspired by the artists of the past, such as Matisse, Jawlensky, and van Gogh. Lots of color here, lots of texture and brush strokes, and little bits of pattern to draw the eye in.

These first two I call my “Dream Girls”. I might pursue this theme…you never know. There is a calmness to these two…and a bit of a mystery to these ladies. I can relate to them, as I am most certainly a daydreamer!!!

I certainly love the intensity of her eyes. Pushing the color around was great fun for me too. There are layers here, and she went through a bit of a metamorphosis, but I finally stepped away, before I could blend too many of those wonderful brush strokes away (I have the tendency to do that, if I work too long on a portrait!) Knowing when to quit, is something I am still learning!

All three paintings are now varnished and are available in my online art shop, ArtcyLucy Studio on Etsy.
