Summer Hummingbirds
We all love it when those fluttering little hummingbirds fly into our yards…they are quick, and colorful, and sometimes we do hear them “hum”.
Last September, was the first time I had painted hummingbirds. I knew I wanted to try them again…but then I had some online classes that took my focus into painting portraits. Well, it wasn’t until the last few months, when I was asked…twice, if I was going to paint these tiny little birds again…that I finally gave in. I am so glad I did! I painted all four at the same time. And they are now in their new owners’ homes.

I am always so pleased (and humbled) when people ask to have some of my art work for their homes. I would have never foreseen any of this happening 8 years ago…but through curiosity and practice…here I am…painting hummingbirds! Life is full of interesting twists and turns, isn’t it?
Thank you, Traci and Valerie!…for your encouragement, and for loving my art!

I had so much fun with these four, that I painted two more hummingbirds in miniature. These two are little stretched canvases…only 2 x 4 inches. This is the board on my easel..where these tiny canvases were taped up, while being painted on. (I think the easel board in itself, is a work of art…with all those lines of color!)
They were given as gifts, with little easels, to hold their Summer Hummers. For some reason, these little birds just make me smile! Don’t you agree???

Happy Summer to you all!

Wonderful little paintings–I especially love the first one–such a sweet look that little hummer has on his face!
Thank you for your comment, Janet! I really had so much fun with these…I can’t wait to paint more!
