It’s been quite a week…studying under the master, John Singer Sargent! Yes, his color palette is SO different from my own, but that was a good thing for me, to get out of my comfort zone and try something new.
Lady Agnes – 9 x 12 inch acrylic painting on Ampersand Art Panel (this painting is reserved)
This portrait was inspired by one of Sargent’s paintings. I really loved the contrasts of light and dark here, something that is so prevalent in Singer Sargent’s formal portraits. I also loved creating her very feminine dress, not to mention that jewelry!
I enjoyed painting with his palette so much, that I did one more, a combination of my style and his. I’ll be back soon to show you…
You really did a nice job on her dress–it looks very airy and light. I am way behind–I had to get a new laptop and went from windows 7 to windows 8.1 so it has been a big learning curve and transferring all my photos etc which led to other things–anyway–I’ve been seeing all your wonderful paintings over on FB–I love how you incorporate each artist into your own style.
