The Spice Mill
The Spice Mill, The Netherlands – 6 x 6 inch acrylic on Ampersand Gessobord
It’s good to give yourself challenges from time to time. That’s why I enjoy the Daily Paintworks weekly challenges. I’ve been wanting to paint this image since coming home from The Netherlands in March, but never seemed to get around to it…until now. And you know, it really WAS a challenge! I worked on this one many times, to get it the way I wanted it. But I am glad I stuck it out…now I can say, I painted a windmill! It would have been nice to paint this on location…but it was cold and windy, and it probably would have blown into the canal…so, next best thing, a good reference photograph. And believe me, we have plenty!!! By the way, The Netherlands (at least the small area we saw) was awesome! Full of amazing images to capture with photos, and with paint!
