A Reflection of Hopper

A Reflection of Hopper – 9 x 12 acrylic painting on mixed media paper

Inspired by the painting “The Automat” by Edward Hopper

This is a bit of a departure for me, from my usual portrait paintings. While studying the work of Edward Hopper, I decided I wanted to try my hand at one of his paintings, to study his style. I do love his interior paintings. And of course, I am fond of vintage scenes…and women in hats. I loved the mood of this one, with its air of mystery and the dark background. But I did want to put my own stamp on it. The original painting from Edward Hopper, didn’t have the reflection of a man in the window…that was just a little idea I decided to act on at the very end of the painting session…and so the painting is called “A Reflection of Hopper”.
