New Art

last August painting

It’s always fun to paint while on vacation, especially since the scenes you are painting, are so fresh in your mind, and the smell of sea salt is still lingering in the air.

“A Day At The Beach” was painted last week, after seeing this gorgeous view from the pier in San Simeon. I gave it a little “van Gogh” brushwork, and painted this in gouache on 5 x 7 inch Ampersand Aquabord. Gouache dries quickly, and works very well for vacation painting. It’s easy to work with, and easy to clean up too…while painting in a hotel room. And I could pack it all up in my little vintage painting suitcase. My husband and I took thousands of photographs, so I’ll be painting views from this trip, for months to come.

“A Day At The Beach” is now on auction in my Daily Paintworks Gallery. SOLD, thank you!!!
