Three and a half years later…
In 2010, I was still VERY new to painting…I had really only started the year before, and had no skills to speak of, and little confidence. But I plugged away, taking a few workshops here and there, and eventually I started painting more and more…and honing in on the things I really loved to paint.
Portraits…yes, I LOVE portraits. The canvas you see above, was one I started in 2010…but never finished. I tried to give her a “makeover” a year later, but was still lacking in my know-how and confidence. A couple more online classes in 2012 and 2013, with the mixed media artist, Misty Mawn, has given me the knowledge and tools to make better portraits (a huge thanks to Misty!) and I am happy to say, more confidence. I have done SO much more painting in the last two years, and can really see my progress. Lots of practice and more practice, pays off. It’s been a fun journey…from where I was to where I am now.
Jump to the future, 3 1/2 years…and you see the FINISHED painting now. You can see I have learned a little. But mostly, it’s been such an enjoyable process…I just want to keep going. “Camille” is an 11 x 14 inch mixed media painting on stretched canvas. Besides acrylic paint, there is lace attached to her collar, and a found jewelry piece as well. Really catches your eye on this piece…love that “modernly vintage” feel. And of course, her sweeping up-do of a hairstyle.
I’ve come a long way, but can only imagine what progress I can make if I keep going. I’ll let you know…in another 3 1/2 years from now.

My Etsy shop has seen major changes in 3 1/2 years as well. It started out with my digital art and collages and assemblage art, and has grown to my own little painting gallery. “Camille” is now available in my Etsy shop. (SOLD, thank you!)
