New Art

five new portraits

Maybe this blog post title should be “a blonde and four redheads” because you will see a pattern emerging as the portraits go along…

Hannah

“Hannah” is an 11 x 14 inch acrylic portrait on smooth Bristol paper. I am trying out new styles here, trying to get a bit looser in my brush strokes. This was a pure joy to paint, because I had no preconceived ideas of how I wanted this painting to turn out, I just enjoyed the process of laying down the paint. I also used a very limited palette.

LadyMariposa

“Lady Mariposa” is an 11 x 14 inch mixed media painting (collage + acrylic + lace) on smooth heavyweight Bristol paper. I started on this painting months ago, and returned to it a couple weeks ago, to finish it up.

Flora

“Flora” is also an 11 x 14 inch acrylic painting on Bristol paper. She has a textured background, with earth tones that I love.

Agatha2

“Agatha” was inspired by a fashion portrait from Kees Van Dongen…though I gave my version of the painting, red hair. Another attempt at looser brushstrokes. I do love how she turned out. This is a 9 x 12 inch acrylic painting on smooth Bristol paper.

PortraitOfEmilyAnne1

“Portrait of Emily Anne” is an 11 x 14 inch acrylic painting on stretched black canvas. I love the dark background, which adds to the vintage mood of this painting. And yes, once again, I love the red hair.

All of my newest portraits are now available in my online art shop on Etsy.
