I am so excited to share some of my newest art with you! It’s been a long time coming, I know! My art schedule changed a bit this year, and I am still trying to get into a pattern of working.  But every chance I get, there I am, in front of the easel. I have just updated my Etsy shop, and there are new items available, from tiny portraits on wood, to larger portraits on Raymar panel or stretched canvas. I have even added tea bag portraits back in to the shop.

A mix of emotions going on here with this one, full of mark making, “script”, splashes of unexpected color, and a most thoughtful pose. 

Because of You – (SOLD, thank you!) 11 x 14 inch mixed media portrait on stretched canvas

A fun play here, experimenting with colors, shapes, collage, mark making and leaving intentional quiet spaces on the canvas. 

Portrait of Martina – 5 x 7 inch acrylic on gessobord

Back to a smaller substrate for this sweet girl. Martina is a raven haired beauty…from Spain. 

I think possibly my favorite of my new pieces…

Every Little Thing She Does – 9 x 12 inch mixed media portrait on stretched canvas

Another playful piece, learning from the class I had in January, by the lovely Caren Ginsburg, learning to be loose but intentional, and letting the marks lay where they are. This one has collage, mark making, and lovely shapes of color. 

Autumn and Ivy – 8 x 10 inch acrylic on Raymar panel

This is a nod to the artists of the past, with a more serious portrait with a dark tone in the background, giving it a vintage feel…but lightened up with the wisps of ivy. Something about this woman’s eyes…

This lovely has already sold before I could even put her in my shop.

“Hear My Story” is an 11 x 14 inch acrylic portrait on Raymar panel.

This one went through quite a few stages, and quite a few backgrounds too. One of the last additions, was that scribbly design in her shirt. When I showed this portrait to other artists, they thought she was about to say something. That’s where I got the idea for the title.

Well, it doesn’t take much to make me want to paint a portrait of van Gogh, does it? For this painting, it all started with an assignment from an online class about using a palette knife and other tools besides a brush. It was an experiment that went through many changes.

Here is a glimpse of the many faces that finally became this portrait. I am so pleased with this one, and I can’t wait to try more of this kind of painting.

I started painting small again, and this time, on small pieces of wood.

Loving the tinyness of this cutie…I had so much fun sketching out the portrait, and then filling in parts with acrylic and gesso. I even scribbled into the background.

I love her pink hair and Rococo flair. This one was seriously fun to work on! I think I might be playing like this again. It combines my love of drawing, with my love of painting.

Love the simple elegance of this one. I am so glad I left quite a bit of the wood showing, and I love how the graphite scribbles look against the wood grain. Each of these tiny wood portraits have a wax varnish on them. They can be left without a frame, can be displayed on a fireplace mantle, a bookshelf, or on a tiny easel…your choice. I have a few more to add to my art shop soon. But in the meantime, these three tiny beauties are available.
