Love Conquers All
I am trying something a bit different this year with my art making, as you probably noticed. I am taking quite a few online classes to help me stretch and grow as an artist, and I’m liking the results of my experiments so far.
Love Conquers All – 8 x 10 inch acrylic painting on canvas panel
This painting was quite a challenge for me, but I loved it. One of the classes I am taking, is about figurative art, or more essentially, putting figures in an abstract landscape. I loved the idea of it, and I loved seeing what others have done with this kind of theme, so I was excited to start.
It was an interesting process. In fact, it started off as an unsuccessful landscape painting that I did years ago. So, there are lots of layers, lots of textures in this one. I used my favorite color combo of rich brick reds and greens…adding bits of additional blue and a touch of violet. It evolved quite a bit along the way. My favorite part was adding hands to the figure, and then adding script. I am so proud of this painting. It was one of those paintings that started out with one idea, and then morphed into something else altogether. Are you wondering about the title? Me too, actually. I just looked at her one day, and that is what came to mind.
