What started off as a class assignment, has turned into a bit of an obsession. Honestly, I didn’t think I would love making tiny 2 x 2 or 2 1/2 x 3 inch paintings on tea bags! But there you have it, I have confessed. So far, I have painted over 50 of them. Each and every one is unique in their own way, each a challenge to paint…but I love them ALL.
Each of these are painted on tea bags…and I am experimenting with brands, the round ones are Tetley, the more square ones are Celestial Seasonings, and the larger rectangular, are a blank disposable tea bag, that you can fill with your own tea leaves. My goal is to complete 100 painted tea bags by the end of the year. That shouldn’t be too hard, since I love painting these little art treasures.

Hello Roberta,
Great work! Love them all! I just registered for Jeanne-Marie’s class and can’t wait to get started. I like how you present them. What are they mounted on, if you don’t mind my asking? Thanks, Dawn
Thanks so much for your comment, Dawn! You are going to absolutely love the class…it really became an obsession, painting on these tiny “canvases” 🙂 I like displaying these tea bags on little clip frames I found at our local Michaels store. You can see photos of them at this post https://artcylucy.wordpress.com/2016/09/14/tea-bags-and-polka-dots/
Jeanne-Marie has framed hers in shadow box frames, which also look great.
