Sunflowers Blooming

I’ve been inspired by my summer garden.

We had a really wonderful sunflower garden this year, and I took hundreds of photographs, to use as references for paintings. It was a lot of fun to get into the art room and paint these happy flowers!

Where Sunflowers Grow – 9 x 12 inch acrylic painting on Ampersand gessobord

I decided to paint two sunflower paintings, since painting more than one at a time, really helps me to loosen up a bit and not focus on too many details. I love the splashy bits of paint there…they are fun to do, although messy!

ThereYouAre

There You Are – 9 x 12 inch acrylic painting on Ampersand gessobord (SOLD)

This one became my favorite…there seems to be a silent dialogue going on between the two flowers….from the larger experienced flower, to the tiny just bloomed flower. It was as if the larger one was just waiting patiently for the other to arrive.

Artists DO have vivid imaginations, don’t you agree???
