Orne de Fleurs
Orne de Fleurs – 5 x 7 inch acrylic on Ampersand art panel
This painting was purely created for fun, and on a whim of an idea. I had seen photos of Matisse’s paintings of his daughter, Marguerite, and loved how she wore a black ribbon around her neck. The rest of this painting was a study in bold color, lines and design. She is very different from what I normally paint, so she was quite a challenge for me. But layers of paint later, I came to peace with her. And once the flowers were on her head, I knew she was done. I loved finding the french expression “orne de fleurs”, because she certainly is adorned with flowers.
She feels very much at home in the online art shop, with her Matisse “cousins”.
