A long time ago, an author named Jane Austen came on the scene, to write stories that captured the hearts of her readers. Years later…and a few Hollywood productions later…her stories are still being told and her characters are still loved.  This summer, I painted a few romantic paintings inspired by her stories. I love the clothing of the regency era, and though it can be a challenge for this modern girl, I loved painting this portrait of an imagined character in Jane Austen’s world. I love the colors used here…I call them “cornflower blue” and “elegant rose”… because they sound so old fashioned, and I can imagine Miss Austen possibly penning those exact words.
