I’ve been taking an online portrait class with one of my favorite teachers, Misty Mawn. I’ve been doing a lot of drawing practice lately, trying to get facial features right, and add shadow and highlights, all while trying to retain my own style to my art.

Besides drawing assignments, we’ve been encouraged to try all kinds of mediums, from crayons to pastels to spices in our kitchen cabinet! (that was fun!)

But now, I am back to acrylic painting…one of my very favorite mediums to paint with.

“Head in the Clouds” is one of my newest portraits, a 12 x 12 inch acrylic painting, on heavyweight textured paper (it looks almost like canvas!). I love her peaceful look, and how she looks like she is daydreaming with the beautiful blue sky and clouds all around her. She is now available for purchase.
