One of my favorite things about learning from the masters, is how I can incorporate their past brushstrokes and palettes, to my own modern way of painting. Combining the two styles, is a challenge and a learning experience. This is one of my favorite portraits so far this year, and it was based on the lesson that featured Leonardo da Vinci.
Portrait of Giovanna – 14 x 18 inch acrylic on stretched canvas
Last year, I had the opportunity to paint on bigger canvases, and I really loved working in a larger scale. This canvas, is larger than my usual 8 x 10 and 11 x 14 inch portraits. And I really loved being able to use that extra space to explore that free flowing hair…that seems to have a life of its own!
This portrait is now available through DailyPaintworks, as an auction, or Buy It Now feature.
I’m reading the new bestseller, “Leonardo Da Vinci” by Walter Isaacson. It’s pretty good so far.
Thanks for recommending this book, Nancy, I am going to check it out!
