Brooklyn – 18 x 24 inch acrylic and collage on stretched canvas
This is one of six large canvas paintings I worked on in the past two weeks. She is a beauty, if I do say so myself…and I just adore the background, that is so full of colorful marks. Her dress is actually collaged paper.
I usually work much smaller, my favorite sizes being 5 x 7, 8 x 10 and 9 x 12 inches. And I rarely work on stretched canvas. But I am being given a wonderful opportunity to hang my art locally in a brand new beauty salon in my community, and so I made some very large pieces to fit on their walls for the next four to five weeks. I worked very quickly, and it was quite a challenge…but it was a great learning experience for me! And I really love how each portrait turned out. I will deliver them tomorrow for hanging in the salon.
