New Art

Second Chances

I took a short break from art, to spend about six days near the ocean. What a wonderful way to de-stress, relax, and soak in the beauty around us! I won’t be surprised if a few seascapes pop up on the easel soon…but in the meantime, portraits are still taking center stage.

Second Chances – 8 x 10 inch acrylic painting on hardboard panel (SOLD, thank you!)

Inspired by an online class that started last week, Annie Hamman’s “Creating Soulful Art with a Story” really had an effect on me. She encouraged us to look a bit deeper, spend time with details and patterns, think about color, composition, and eyes that express emotion. I loved all the videos, and I am enjoying putting her words and advice into action on my easel. I started this painting last week. Then a few days later, went back to add more to her “story”. So, not only does the title, Second Chances apply to my art making…but also reflects the song I was listening to, while creating her.

“…if it weren’t for second chances, we’d all be alone.” ~ Gregory Alan Isakov
