New Art

I dream of painting…

I dream of painting and then I paint my dream.
-Vincent Van Gogh

This man, who lived so long ago, has had such an influence on the way I see the world around me, and how I paint it.

This man, long gone…has taught me not to be afraid of color. Of being brave enough to paint things the way I want to, instead of how they really are. He’s taught me to study, study, study…artists of the past, and then practice, practice, practice…my drawing and painting skills, over and over, and over again.

In just over a decade, this man created 2,100 pieces of art, which is amazing to me. I started my own art journey almost 10 years ago. My goal? To keep learning, growing, and loving the whole process…of making art!

I started this Vincent inspired portrait months ago, as a quick 20 minute painting sketch. I worked on it two more times, and finished it on March 30th…the same day he was born, in 1853.

“I Dream of Painting” is an acrylic painting on 9 x 12 inch heavyweight Bristol paper. It’s now available in my online art shop, ArtcyLucy Studio on Etsy.
