I finished my goal for the month…I have 30 completed paintings…and one on the easel waiting to be finished. It feels good to reach it, after working hard this month!
I decided to muster up the confidence to try a painting I’ve been wanting to do all summer long…ever since we put our hummingbird feeders in the backyard. I didn’t know if I could do it…but I tried my best.
I didn’t just do ONE hummingbird painting…
I did TWO…
And I decided to make them connected…a diptych.
I had my challenges…winged creatures are not the easiest things to paint! And usually their wings are a blur. But my husband has taken some wonderful photographs of these little birds lately, so I used his photos as my reference.
Hummingbirds in Flight, are two 6 x 6 inch acrylic paintings on Ampersand gessobord. My husband offered to make some frames for these paintings, and I will display them in our home…a collaborative project…his photos, his handmade frames, and my painting skills. I think we make a pretty good team!!!
Tomorrow, I will put up a collage of all paintings completed in the month of September…it’s been a lot of work, but it feels good to reach a goal! Make sure to check out Leslie Saeta’s blog, to see what hundreds of other artists have painted in September.
