Aurelia – New Portrait Painting
Sometimes a painting comes together so very quickly…and other times, it is layer upon layer upon layer, until I am satisfied with it. THIS painting, took a little work. I actually started on it earlier this month, and it has gone through quite a few transformations before she became the exotic portrait that she is.
Aurelia – 5 x 7 inch acrylic painting on Ampersand gessobord (SOLD, thank you!)
I am glad that I stuck with it…because the bones of the original idea are still here. I knew I wanted exotic and dramatic….it just took a while to get there. I’ve added golden highlights to her garland and her collar, and to the edges of the gessobord. She looks a bit royal, and I love that. I also love her regal name, Aurelia. It comes from the root word, golden.
“Aurelia” is now varnished and in the online art shop ArtcyLucy Studio on Etsy.

I have been loving all your portraits. The subtle use of the blues in the shadows especially. And I thank you for exposure to the Google possibilities for locations.
Bobbie, thanks so much for the kind comments about my portraits! I learned about those subtle blue hues from an online portrait class, by Judy Wise. I’ve been implementing it ever since, and I love it too! Hope you join us for Virtual Paintout…it IS loads of fun!
Beautiful!
Tori, thanks so much for leaving me a comment! Glad you think she is beautiful 🙂
