“Blue Island Girl” – 5 x 7 inch acrylic painting on Ampersand Gessobord
This is the second painting, of three portraits I painted in one sitting. I like painting multiple paintings at once…so I don’t give too much critical thought or add too much detail to just one painting. It does something to the painting brain, calms the inner critic, and let’s you break loose a bit…without concentrating too much, or too harshly on one painting. This painting started with a fashion photo as my inspiration. Of course, the blue hair was my idea…and I love the color of it, against the warm golden sunset colors of the background…a true island feel, complete with a fresh flower garland. I love the over-the-shoulder look too.
